How to Read Homeira Style Recipes

Recipes can be frustrating and cumbersome to follow because of the fancy titles and words, lengthy texts, the way measurements are listed and directions are written. Who wants to spend time referring to charts to convert grams, liters or quarts or wade through paragraphs of directions?

Homeira Style Recipes have an easy measuring system and simplified step-by-step, stress-free directions to follow. Here are some Easy Guidelines:

Recipe Titles: Instead of fancy names, the recipe name contains the main ingredient whenever possible.

Numbers: The ingredients are listed in order of when they are being used.

Measurements and Abbreviations

Measurement units have been converted and simplified. As long as you have measurement spoons, cups and a scale, you are good to start. Here are the abbreviations used for measurements:

D = Dash
t = teaspoon
T = Tablespoon
C = Cup
S = Small
M = Medium
L = Large
lb = Pound
bn = bunch
bu = Bouquet
pc = Piece
pr = Portion
pk = Package
sp = Sprig
sl = Slice
ca = Can
oz = Ounce

One Ingredient, Several Uses

If an ingredient is being used several times in a recipe in different steps of the cooking it is listed separately with the necessary measurement for that step rather than asking you to separate the ingredient in several amounts.


Use of numbers makes it easier to remember how many ingredients you need to get. They also let you know how many steps are in the directions. They will look as follows: 01, 02, 03, 04, etc.


Directions are numbered in simple steps and short sentences so it is easy to go from one step to the next.


Recipes for the sides are presented separately. If the recipe is for making steak and it is being served with Herbed Basmati Rice, you will need to look up that rice in a separate recipe if it is published.


Every recipe will have the picture of the dish to help you know how it is supposed to look.
